One to remember As a hotel photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing the essence of numerous motels, hotels, and resorts around the world. However, there was one hotel I shot last year that has stuck in mind like no other – the River Rock Inn in Green River, Utah. Let me take you on a journey through this charming establishment that Tracy and Greg, the owners, transformed into a true gem. Where in the World……… Nestled in the heart of Green River, a small town with a population of just under 1,000 residents, River Rock Inn stands as a testament to the adventurous spirit that runs through this quaint corner of Utah. The town itself has a rich history, dating back to its establishment as a supply center for the mining industry in the late 1800s. Today, it retains its Western charm while embracing the beauty of the surrounding […]
Photographing among the richness of Chicago Architecture
As a photographer, there’s nothing more inspiring than capturing the essence of a building’s history through my lens. That’s why I was thrilled to photograph the Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago at 100 W. Monroe Street during my recent visit to the Windy City. It is a shining example of Chicago Architecture. It will also be a good addition to my Hotel Portfolio of photographs. In the midst of 1920’s Chicago Heyday History This building has a rich history that dates back to 1927 when it was first built as the Continental and Commercial National Bank. It was designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst & White, one of the most prominent architectural firms in the city. This 22-story building was the tallest building in Chicago at the time of its completion and was known for its stunning art deco architecture. As I arrived at the Hyatt Centric, I couldn’t help but […]
A New World of Travel: How Moving to Austria Changed My Perspective as a Hotel Photographer
Taking the big step Moving from Florida to Austria with my family has been one of the most life-changing experiences for me, not only personally but also professionally. As a hotel photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to capture the essence of some of the most luxurious and captivating hotels in the world. Previously, I traveled extensively throughout the US and the Caribbean, but moving to Austria has opened up a whole new world of travel and international photography opportunities for me. Getting a foot in the door As a newly Marriott approved photographer for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, I now have the chance to explore and experience different parts of the world. What’s even more interesting is that I’ve found myself traveling to more of the USA than when I was living in Florida. With the additional costs of international flights, I’ve had to plan my trips more strategically. […]
First Photography job in Paris
A goal since relocating to Europe Last week, I had the pleasure of traveling to Paris for a hotel photography job at Le Meridien Etoile. Although this was not my first trip to Paris, this was my first hotel photography gig in Paris, which was a thrilling prospect, given that it is the birthplace of photography. Despite the weather not being ideal, as it was raining for most of my stay, it didn’t affect my work too much since I was only taking interior shots. Working with Parisians Working at Le Meridien was a wonderful experience. The team I worked with was fun, and they took me for lunch in their staff canteen. They made me feel welcome and comfortable, which was very much appreciated. I enjoyed exploring the city and using the Metro to get around. It was a great opportunity to experience Paris as a local. Running around […]
