Client:
Goldener Hirsch A Luxury Collection Hotel by Marriott
Location:
Salzburg, Austria
Time:
April 2025
Shoot Type:
Hotel Content Library
Challenge:

Extremely limited time on site (approximately 15 minutes per location), with both events being prepared and staged simultaneously. The Karl Böhm Saal, a large-scale venue with complex lighting needs, required live coordination during setup.

Solution:

Worked closely with the marketing team (Andrea and Renate) to time the setup and execution precisely. Used bracketed exposures and long exposure techniques with an ND filter and continuous lighting to shape light during live staging. Prioritised angles and perspectives that maximised visual impact within the time constraints.

Final Deliverables:

A small, curated set of high-quality, blended images showcasing both setups:
– Wide and detail shots from the Library Room
– Atmospheric, candlelit imagery from the Karl Böhm Saal
– Images formatted for marketing, social media, and portfolio use

Usage:

Marketing collateral for the Goldener Hirsch; visual storytelling for special event services; internal brand documentation for Marriott Luxury Collection properties; part of my ongoing luxury and cultural property portfolio.

Photographer’s Note

I always feel a bit of nervous energy before a shoot like this — not from doubt, but from the drive to do it right. Opera singers tell me they feel the same before stepping on stage. It means it matters.

The Goldener Hirsch shoot was hushed, almost reverent — fitting for a room called the Library. But stepping out into the street towards the Festspielhaus, the energy shifted. The city was alive. People were dressed for the opera, the atmosphere building. That walk — across time and noise — was like an overture before the main act.

Inside the Karl Böhm Saal, we had minutes. A 16th-century hall. Dozens of candles. One chance. That’s when adrenaline and experience take over — and you just shoot.
