Taking the big step Moving from Florida to Austria with my family has been one of the most life-changing experiences for me, not only personally but also professionally. As a hotel photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to capture the essence of some of the most luxurious and captivating hotels in the world. Previously, I traveled extensively throughout the US and the Caribbean, but moving to Austria has opened up a whole new world of travel and international photography opportunities for me. Getting a foot in the door As a newly Marriott approved photographer for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, I now have the chance to explore and experience different parts of the world. What’s even more interesting is that I’ve found myself traveling to more of the USA than when I was living in Florida. With the additional costs of international flights, I’ve had to plan my trips more strategically. […]
Big Sur, California. The beauty of travel.
Welcome back to travel again! Big Sur reminded me that travel has a new-found value after the Covid-19 pandemic. We all have a new appreciation for it. Just like anything we take for granted. As soon as it’s taken away from us, we want it even more than before. For that reason I consider myself very fortunate to have travelled so much during the pandemic. However, my travel as a hotel photographer was out of necessity to work. Travel was necessary to be able to get through it and not for leisure. Furthermore, travel is now opening up for leisure and there is a pent-up demand, so I’m hoping you will be getting back out there again. Know your history Finding myself in a new place for work, I always look online for some snippets of history of the place and I try to get out and see things, if […]
International Travel during the Pandemic
As a self employed International Hotel Photographer. My clients are in different countries, so I do a lot of international travel. On March 11th I was working in the USA on a job when then President, Donald Trump announced he was banning international travel and specifically at that time, Europeans entering the United States. I flew out of Miami to Austria just hours before the ban took effect. Just hours after arriving back home in Austria, the first lockdown went into effect there. Just like everybody else there were so many emotions and worries that came to mind. Fast forward to today (10 months later) and I am preparing to leave on only my fifth work trip since March 2020 and here we are staring at a potential third wave of Corona virus. But this time I feel a bit different about it and I’ll explain why. Why I travel […]
Opening up hotels after Coronavirus
What has happened? One day everything was “normal” and overnight it changed. But what is “Normal”? According to a dictionary the definition is “conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.” “Normal” in everyday life 50 years ago was not normal last year. It has changed over time. Two months ago we were living life as normal and then the Coronavirus pandemic spread rapidly across the World. Countries closed borders , shops, restaurants, cinemas, sporting events and literally overnight the normal changed drastically. In this blog we’ll cover the reason why the right photographs will help convince customers to book with you. The right photographs will help hotels after coronavirus. Where are we now? As I write this, people in different countries around the world are in different stages of dealing with the coronavirus. Some countries and even smaller regions were affected on a greater or lesser scale by the […]
