A goal since relocating to Europe Last week, I had the pleasure of traveling to Paris for a hotel photography job at Le Meridien Etoile. Although this was not my first trip to Paris, this was my first hotel photography gig in Paris, which was a thrilling prospect, given that it is the birthplace of photography. Despite the weather not being ideal, as it was raining for most of my stay, it didn’t affect my work too much since I was only taking interior shots. Working with Parisians Working at Le Meridien was a wonderful experience. The team I worked with was fun, and they took me for lunch in their staff canteen. They made me feel welcome and comfortable, which was very much appreciated. I enjoyed exploring the city and using the Metro to get around. It was a great opportunity to experience Paris as a local. Running around […]
Kuwait City Luxury Hotel Photography
As a luxury hotel photographer with a passion for architectural photography, my recent work trip to Kuwait City to photograph the new Marriott Executive Apartments was a dream come true. Since relocating to Europe to expand my photography horizons, photographing hotels in the Middle East has been a goal of mine, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture this beautiful new property. In the heart Kuwait City The Marriott Executive Apartments are situated right in the very center of Kuwait City, on top of the luxury Assima Mall. As I arrived in Kuwait in February, just before the hotel was due to open, I was excited to be among the first to photograph this stunning property. This was my first official shoot for Marriott in the Middle East, and I couldn’t wait to get started. My knowledge of Kuwait up to this point was based on what […]
Big Sur, California. The beauty of travel.
Welcome back to travel again! Big Sur reminded me that travel has a new-found value after the Covid-19 pandemic. We all have a new appreciation for it. Just like anything we take for granted. As soon as it’s taken away from us, we want it even more than before. For that reason I consider myself very fortunate to have travelled so much during the pandemic. However, my travel as a hotel photographer was out of necessity to work. Travel was necessary to be able to get through it and not for leisure. Furthermore, travel is now opening up for leisure and there is a pent-up demand, so I’m hoping you will be getting back out there again. Know your history Finding myself in a new place for work, I always look online for some snippets of history of the place and I try to get out and see things, if […]
International Travel during the Pandemic
As a self employed International Hotel Photographer. My clients are in different countries, so I do a lot of international travel. On March 11th I was working in the USA on a job when then President, Donald Trump announced he was banning international travel and specifically at that time, Europeans entering the United States. I flew out of Miami to Austria just hours before the ban took effect. Just hours after arriving back home in Austria, the first lockdown went into effect there. Just like everybody else there were so many emotions and worries that came to mind. Fast forward to today (10 months later) and I am preparing to leave on only my fifth work trip since March 2020 and here we are staring at a potential third wave of Corona virus. But this time I feel a bit different about it and I’ll explain why. Why I travel […]
