The magical phase of lockdown restrictions easing. With the World in different stages of lockdown and re-opening, I found myself and my family in the fortunate position of being able to visit “The most Instagramable Town in the World”. A place that Travel and Leisure magazine call “A beautiful European village straight out of a fairytale” , but now without the usual hoards of tourists. Last Summer we made the picturesque city of Salzburg, Austria our home. However with most of my business located in the USA until I get more established here, I found that I was traveling every month to the US to fulfill my commitments to clients. Therefore didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to travel within Austria. At least until now. We did go to the bigger cities such as, Vienna, Graz and Linz and even went up into the mountains in […]
Opening up hotels after Coronavirus
What has happened? One day everything was “normal” and overnight it changed. But what is “Normal”? According to a dictionary the definition is “conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.” “Normal” in everyday life 50 years ago was not normal last year. It has changed over time. Two months ago we were living life as normal and then the Coronavirus pandemic spread rapidly across the World. Countries closed borders , shops, restaurants, cinemas, sporting events and literally overnight the normal changed drastically. In this blog we’ll cover the reason why the right photographs will help convince customers to book with you. The right photographs will help hotels after coronavirus. Where are we now? As I write this, people in different countries around the world are in different stages of dealing with the coronavirus. Some countries and even smaller regions were affected on a greater or lesser scale by the […]
Amazing photography of Salzburg during corona virus days
The corona virus lockdown has changed the World and also created an amazing photography experience At the time of writing this blog I am in day 11 of social distancing rules in Austria. Most of the World is operating under new social distancing rules. These rules have left the streets quieter in order to stop the spread of the Covid 19 virus and also created an amazing photography experience. Under normal circumstances I photograph hotels for a living. My work started drying up a couple of weeks ago as the uncertainty started to kick-in. I can’t work from home as I photograph hotels on location and I usually travel extensively. So with that stark reality hitting home, like millions of other people I can’t worry about the future 24 hours per day. So between the worry of where and when my next job and income may come from I thought […]
A different viewpoint
A couple of years ago following a family vacation to Europe and getting a different viewpoint in life, my wife and I had several discussions about spending more time in Europe. As we’re both originally from England there are certain things one misses over the years living in the USA. Deep down there is a longing to experience more of those things you know exist, but just can’t experience due to your geographical location. So much so, that we looked into things and took it a step further. My eldest daughter is now grown-up and has graduated college and is setting her life up in the US. My youngest daughter at age 11 has a flexibility window beginning to close as she heads for teenage years. It was a case of “now or never”. Also with Brexit getting delayed a few times, it was easier for us to move to […]
